To get into the Valentine’s day spirit I decided to make my own recipe using NuNaturals stevia.
Brownies with Chocolate Cinnamon Frosting
adapted from trinigourmet
Ingredients:
For the brownies:
1 C walnuts
1 C cashews
3/4 c dates
1/4 tsp salt
1 T chia
1/3 c dark cocoa powder
1 T cacao nibs
For the frosting:
1/2 c cashews soaked
1/4 c agave nectar
1 T NuNaturals Stevia
1 T dark cocoa powder
1/4 c coconut oil
1/4 lemon juiced
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 T cinnamon
1 T coconut shredded
Directions: Soak cashews in water for one hour prior. For the brownies combine cashews and walnuts in a food processor, process until finely ground. Add dates in individually until combined then add in cocoa powder chia and salt. Press into a small pan ( mine is 8.5x 6.5) sprinkle with cacao nibs and pop into the freezer. In a blender or add cashews, agave, vanilla and lemon. Blend until well combined and add in cinnamon, stevia, cocoa powder and coconut oil. Continue blending until creamy. Spread over brownies, sprinkle with coconut, and freeze 1 hour or until firm. Store in the refrigerator!
Gather your cashews, walnuts, cocoa powder, dates, and chia seeds.
I LOVE the different colors of the chia seeds they are soo pretty.
Add your nuts and salt to the food processor
Add in dates one at a time until combined then add in the cocoa and chia seeds.
Once incorporated your “brownie batter” should look like this.
Lightly grease your dish with coconut oil, press mixture in pan, and sprinkle with cacao nibs! Pop into the freezer and get to work on your deeelicious frosting.
And yes, this dessert will be worth every bit of the giant mess you are about to make, I promise
Measure out all of your frosting ingredients.
Add the soaked cashews, lemon, agave, and vanilla into your blender.
Blend until smooth add the rest of the frosting ingredients and blend again
your frosting should look like this when finished. Restrain yourself from licking the vita-mix
and spread an even layer of your frosting onto the brownies.
Sprinkle with shredded coconut and pop back into the freezer for about an hour.
Once the frosting has firmed up cut yourself a piece and dig in
Silky, rich, and chocolatey, these decadent dark chocolate brownies will make any Valentine’s Day complete.
Alright time to head to the gym to complete week 3 of my 5k training... I need to burn a few calories today to make up for the fact that I licked the entire vita-mix and ate all the scraps that came off the heart shaped cookie cutter, whoops! Have a fabulous night and make sure to enter my NuNaturals giveaway so you can make these amazing brownies too.
Question:
What are your Valentine’s Day plans this year? Ahh I planned our valentines day this year and the plans are top secret so you will have to wait until after valentines day to find out, but i’m pretty excited!

WHoaaa! I need to make this asap!!! As far as the stevia I have not purchased it yet.. thinking it might not be good for me? I haven’t looked into it but is it totally all natural w/ no side effects? would love to try it out. I’d add it to tea, oats and try this – but I’m going to try this w/o the stevia bc it looks too good!
omg its amazing… I cant stop eating it haha… stevia is a herb so its all natural. honestly I have used it like twice so i’m not real familiar with it but you could omit or use real sugar and im sure it would still be divine! Thanks for reading and the wonderful comments as always!
stevia is great… if you use a product that is green or brown, it’s even better b/c of the added nutrient value – most companies make it white b/c consumers are used to their sweet stuff being white. it is sweeter than sugar, so usually you’ll use less of it in a recipe (if the recipe calls for sugar).
another fantabulous recipe kate! thanks!
Awww these are so cute for Vday!! And me and my bf are staying in for the day. He has his medical boards coming up so he has to study
What stunning é& healthy heart brownies!!
They looks fab!
I want to make these , enter me to win
Hey there! Thanks for visiting my blog! I think I can help you out in the Superbowl appetizer dept. Make my Spinach “Brownies”. They aren’t really brownies, don’t get scared!
http://melissalikestoeat.blogspot.com/2009/09/1396.html
ooh thank you they sound delicious
Oh my goodness — you have NO idea how much I love chocolate + cinnamon! These look amazing. And they are what I would make with stevia
Thanks for the sweet comment! I love cooking in my kitchen.
And try the recipe…..it’s so freaking amazing!
ooh I will! Thanks!
I just posted a new recipe for lower-sugar cookies that are sweetened with stevia… I used the powder form, but liquid would probably work just as well!!
ooh yum ill have to try those! I love stevia but havent used it much.
And what would I make with my stevia… Well, I’d continue experimenting with a variety of cookies and such! I’m kind of enjoying having to experiment with sugar-free baking. I’d also probably put it in my oatmeal rather frequently, which is a somewhat more mundane use
Already followed you on twitter and just followed nunaturals
Mmm those brownies look so delicious and pretty darn healthy too and so perfect for Valentine’s day!
This dessert was the best yet!
Those are SUPER cute! I just recently bought Stevia and have only used it in ice cream so far… But if i won I would make your brownies
What does it mean if you wake up at 12:30am and sneak a piece of this brownie?
it means you need to win some of your own stevia and make these brownies!
RAW BROWNIE! omg… I have to try this. I don’t know if I would keep the agave in there – just with the dates and stevia I made find it just sweet enough. I’m loving the icing, and that you cut the brownies into hearts!
My hubby is getting back from a business trip a couple of days before Valentines. I have no idea what we’re doing. I was thinking about getting his car detailed [he loves his car] and making some fancy dinner… I love staying at home for romantic type events. A lot more intimate!
I agree I love cooking @ home rather than going out. If you make the brownies w/out agave let me know I would like to reduce the sugar even more but im not sure how to keep the texture!
Those brownies looks ah-mazing. I’ve never used stevia before. I bet it would be great in blond brownies too.
I haven’t even made it but can tell I’m in love with this recipe. Looks so good. And fudgy!
As far as Valentine’s Day plans go my bf and I are haeding to the spa!!! I cannot wait my body needs a massage soooo bad!
I usually add stevia to a mix of peanut flour and water then put it on toast. It is a great alternative to regular peanut butter… less fat!
yum that sounds great i’ll have to try it!
I’m take a (free) romantic cooking class with my roommate.
Who knows maybe well find some single men to cook for?
The fastest way to a mans heart is through his stomach right?
haha thats awesome where is the class at? Yes definitely a true statement, thats how I got my man.
I think it would be cool to make ice cream or frozen yogurt with stevia….if that’s even possible haha
I’m following you on twitter
and now i’m following nunaturals on twitter
Kate. If these brownines taste as good as they look… who could resist them. I love the “heart” presentation. It makes it personal.
I use Stevia in my plain yogurt and add some flax seed with a pinch of pomegranite and cranberry preserves. It is delicious.
Have you ever tried NuNaturals in a scone recipe?
yum that sounds amazing i’ll have try that. I actually have never made scones but would love to come up with a recipe for some using stevia. They would go perfect with tea
I love cashews, and those both look delicious!
I would bake heaps and heaps of things if I had the NuNaturals in my arsenal of baking tools.
I absolutely needed this recipe. Today. It’s perfect! And this is what I would bake.
Following you on twitter @rusthawk.

Genuine good taste consists in saying much in few words, in choosing among our thoughts, in having order and arrangement in what we say, and in speaking with composure.
Those placed in the position which I now occupy, commonly feel concern about their worthiness to receive the great honour which has been done them.
