Hi friends
How’s your Tuesday? Since I am busy with exams and STAR training all morning and then spending the rest of the day in the car I figured I would feature a guest post today from Heather who blogs over at Running with Sass. I have been reading Heather’s blog for a few months and was so excited when she offered to do a guest post for me. She is truly an inspiration for leading a healthy lifestyle and I am so impressed by her running accomplishments. She also has some wonderful advice on how to get back on track after a few less than healthy days but ill let her share that with you.
Hi everyone! This is Heather from runningwithsass.com. Kate was sweet enough to let me do a guest post for her. Since Kate’s blog focuses more on the food side of health, I thought I would blog about something that ties the two together. You are what you eat. I know it’s totally cliche, but, it’s so true! I used to think I could eat whatever I wanted, and as long as I “burned it off” running or exercising, it didn’t really matter. This fact was brought to my attention once again over the Easter weekend. My husband and I went home to see my family, and we did what all good southern families do when they get together for holidays: we ate…a lot. We had homemade full fat everything, I mean, it’s Easter, right? Oh and the candy! My mom made each of us up bags of all different kinds of candy. Monday morning after all of the leftovers were eaten, my husband and I went on a six mile run. It. was. hard. yes, it was hot and yes I haven’t been that far in awhile, but we immediately both said the exact same thing…”I can SO feel all of that awful food we ate!” It’s as if it was oozing from our pores. We both had tight and heavy legs sluggish bodies, and we mentlly were not there. The run was frustrating and painful, and I was so happy to be done with it! What I gain from this knowledge is that you MUST marry fitness AND health to reap the full benefit. Just focusing on one or the other is not going to make you the best and most healthy person you can be. This is hard for someone like me who is picky and not an amazing cook (which is why awesome blogs like Kate’s come in handy!)I of course still eat candy and sweets, but I am careful to use portion control and avoid them as well as other foods that make my runs awful when I am training for or about to run a race. It’s amazing how much better I feel when I am eating correctly! Small changes add up, so start with something small, like switching from soft drinks to water, or white pasta to wheat. You will start to feel better and be so glad that you did!
Thanks Heather
Questions:
What are small changes you have made that add up to big differences in how YOU feel? I know for me its definitely going to the gym first thing in the morning, it sets the tone for my entire day!
What is one small change that you make after a less than healthy weekend? I definitely try to get as many greens as I can!
Alright i’m off to tackle my day and then tonight i’ll be spending time with my family, I can’t wait!
Have a wonderful afternoon and I will see you tomorrow !

One small change that I made that has made a big difference is limited processed foods. I not only feel so much better but my body looks a little better too!
Small changes lead to big changes! You’ve gotta start somewhere. I’ve been making sure to include a fruit or veggie, or both in every meal/snack I eat. It’s a great and easy way to eat energizing and nutrition, good for you foods.
Ahh! Heather! Love her and her blog! Great post, girl! Little changes really DO add up!
Hey there, just found your blog through another one and am loving it so far! That peanut sauce recipe below sounds fool-proof and amazing! I love mixing my bragg’s amino with peanut butter anyway whenever i’m making a stirfry! Thanks for the additional ingredients. looking forward to reading more!
If you want to buy real estate, you would have to receive the loan. Moreover, my mother all the time utilizes a small business loan, which supposes to be really reliable.
I make my workout the first thing I do each day. I also stay away from processed, refined foods. A small change I make is trying to take in a lot of veggies, a good workout, and drinking a lot of water.
I am with you on getting more greens and I try to aim to get more water in. But sometimes it can be hard for me to get back on track but after a few days I am usually back in my routine of things
I agree, water is so important, but I always forget it!
Heather you are so flipping cute!
Kate darlinggg! Switch the writing box to HTML, paste the code, and then switch it back so you can write your post as per usual! =) If you can only add a link its 100% ok! I’m just stoked to have ya regardless! <3 mwah
Got it
:) thanks I cannot wait to be a part of your fabulous WIAW!! <3
This is just what I needed to read this morning, I’ve basically been off track since March and finding it SO hard to get back on the right track.
