goals for october

It’s been awhile since I have set some goals for myself so I figured with the changing seasons what better time than to make a few goals to focus on this month.

1. Make exercise a priority: Between school, work, studying, and my social life, exercise definitely took a back burner in September, but after working out regularly again last week i’m determined to make time for my workouts this month. I not only feel better when I work out consistently, but I better manage stress which is extremely important with my crazy schedule.

2. Continue to eat with the seasons: Our CSA made this extremely easy all summer long, but with my weekly deliveries coming to an end I am determined to stick with eating seasonally and locally as much as possible all winter long. Food is not only more nutrient dense when you buy local & seasonal produce, but I love supporting local farmers and knowing where my food is coming from. This goal will also push me to try new things and also get more creative in the kitchen!

3. Continue learning & growing in health: One thing I pride myself in since starting the blog is how far i’ve come from a holistic health standpoint. This time last year I had never heard of a chia seed or propylene glycol. I had never tried a green smoothiekale, or thought of making my own non toxic cleaning products. I am now healthier and happier than I have ever been and am so excited to see how much I will learn over the next year. October in particular I want to focus on continuing to detox my home, starting with adding a dechlorinating shower filter to my shower!

4. Enjoy the fall: Although summer is my favorite time of year I also love the fall and everything it has to offer from beautiful changing leaves to apples and pumpkin. I want to take the time this month to buy local apple cider, enjoy a few pumpkin spice lattes, pick apples, and make lots of delicious fall inspired recipes while making the most of this season.

 5. Live in the moment: With my crazy busy schedule and strong dislike of school this semester I find myself wishing for weeks to fly by. This month I want to focus on my blessings and enjoy every day regardless of whether its what I really want to be doing or not.

So those are my goals, i’m going to print them out and put them on my desk so I can remind myself each day. I’m off to spinning class & then its studying the rest of the day!  Stay tuned for my favorite spring roll recipe coming up this week as well as some delicious seasonal dishes! Oh and if you follow me on facebook you probably saw that I have some great giveaway’s coming this month as well :)

Questions:

What are some of your goals for the month?

 Have a beautiful Tuesday

Kate

My life sounds eerily similar to yours. I’m trying to be more organized and give myself guidelines so that I can manage it all (bikram three times a week, meal planning, etc.). But my biggest goal is to have a positive mental attitude about all this. Sure I’m super busy and stressed out, but I’m stressed out about having enough time to read for my classes so I can get a degree in something I love or I’m stressed out about getting from yoga to my relatively laid-back part-time job. Overall, I’m pretty blessed, even if it’s a lot.

Those are such great goals! I think it’s such a good idea every month to set goals and re-evaluate what your doing. I know that things got really busy and crazy and It was super hard for me to exercise, but I started doing it every day again and I feel much better! I just need to keep it up! :-)

I love that goals allow us to not only look at what we want in the future but also look back. It’s so good sometimes to reflect on how far we’ve come so that we can appreciate our progress as well as look at what we would still like to gain. When you see how much healthier and happier you are now, that must feel great! Way to go!

I’ve only made one goal for this month and that is to increase my strength training regimen. I’ve neglected it lately and have been doing so much endurance training both on the bike and in my running shoes. It’s time to pay closer attention to my muscles and give them some love. Professionally, I want to take my business to the next level and really work on my marketing and social networking. Love your goals! Hope all is well! :)

Great goals! My goal is to do more yoga. I hardly ever do it, so it should be easy to reach!

9 simplynutritiouskate October 4, 2011 at 9:11 pm

I need more yoga in my life too!!

Just like you, Summer is my fav. season, so any other season makes me depress just a little! I admire that you can stay in track with your exercise routine even when its getting cold out. With school as well, when I am exhausted, I eat junk! I need to work on balancing health with cold and school!! Great inspiration :)

I love your #4 and 5. Yes, yes and yes. I just wrote about living in the moment…life is too short. It’s sad to spend it rushing and worrying.

Fall is my favorite season! Though now that I’m in Denver we seem to just have Summer and Winter… Oh well, at least it hardly rains!

All of my goals really align with yours. I think I’ve been too afraid to actually put them in writing because I feel like I am so off kilter recently I dont even think I would know where to start to reset and get these goals accomplished! Thanks for the inspiration!

16 simplynutritiouskate October 5, 2011 at 10:27 am

Great goals! I’ve been doing well with getting to the gym but I need to focus on doing more homework (ugggh!) and study harder for a class I really dislike because it is so dreadfully boring! And I need to learn Spanish before the spring….oh gosh, I may just have to do a goals post to just so I dont forget everything lol!

22 simplynutritiouskate October 5, 2011 at 10:25 am

Great goals doll!!!! I set goals daily, weekly and monthly and having exercise on my list is always #1! If you don’t feel good internally, you won’t attract and feel good externally, so its sooo good to eat and exercise in a healthy way! I also have a goal to read more…..sheesh, lets see how that pans out ;)

xxoo

I absolutely love the positivity of your goals :-)
And I’m totally with you on the exercise one!
My biggest goal this month is in a way similar to your last one, I want to really throw myself into uni life and everything it has to offer :-)
